It is a sad fact of life that not all relationships are meant to last. What once started out as a whirlwind romance full of love, promise and plans for the future, can quickly sour and fade away until all that remains is bad memories and a bitter taste. Picking yourself up after a relationship ends can be a daunting task. But the sooner you take the first steps towards moving on, the better because who knows what exciting opportunities you could be missing out on in the meantime. So how do you go about getting yourself to a place where you are ready to rejoin the world of dating? These are my top tips for getting back in the game.
Give Yourself a Makeover
One easy way to forget the past is to give yourself a makeover, a symbolic shedding of the old you and a hello to the new and improved version. Cut your hair, lose the facial hair and treat yourself to a new suit or smart/casual outfit. When you feel good about the way you look, it will instantly lift your spirits. Looking good will attract new love interests and feeling good will give way to a cheerful disposition that is even more attractive to the opposite sex.
Get a New Hobby
Leave the house, break the usual routine, go out and try something new. There is a whole world out there just waiting for you to discover it and with new experiences come new people. Why don’t you consider joining a gym or taking up a new class, join a club or association or start to travel to all those places you never got round to visiting. Not only will you expand your world but you will open your mind to new people, places, and things and the pains of your past will soon be a distant memory.
Stop Thinking About It
There is nothing more unattractive and off-putting to a woman than a man who is still pining over someone else. Daydreaming and wallowing over what could’ve been are not going to change the present- the only thing it will do is ruin your chances of meeting someone else. Focus on the new you and your new life, and as soon as any negative thoughts come creeping back, remember that by letting them in, you are hampering your future chance at happiness in dating.
